June Fedorchuk - Founder
June has a background of over fifty years helping others. In the late 1950's, she entered psychiatric nursing and worked in practically every nursing field including medical, rehabilitation, geriatric, psychiatric, and in hospitals for the mentally challenged.
"From the age of eighteen and my first foray into the health service arena, I knew that I had found my calling. It wasn't easy, going into psychiatric nursing in the fifties. It was like watching the movie, ''Snake Pit'' only hands on and in real life. I never looked back and never had any doubt about the profession l chose. I knew then that my mission in life was to be instrumental in the welfare of others and to provide care, where ever it was needed", June says.
June also worked on skid row with those suffering from drug addiction and alcoholism, most without homes.
"One of my work experiences was at the Vancouver Salvation Army Detox Centre for male patients on skid row. This experience taught me to treat the problem and not judge the patient, and realize but for the Grace of God, there go I", June says. Cont'd...
