What we do
Cont'd...
Fund raising is something we can all do if we care about the less fortunate. As education takes hold, and the students graduate from the primary grades(6) we look for those that will come on board with scholarships. It can be as little as $100 to a full scholarship of $500, to grade 11 or 12.
Without scholarships, education will end for them, they will know how to read, write, and sign their names, and get work at $2 or $3 an hour in a bar or restaurant, if they are lucky. Remember, a teacher's wages are about $250 a month. This is hard for us to understand.
In the future, we will strive to create teams of medical personnel of doctors, nurses, optometrists, dentists and assistants to provide badly need medical care. There is no care of this type in Central America. The people in rural villages have no medical coverage. Hospitals are for the rich, the poor may get a clinic that comes from another country, once or twice in their lifetime.
